I have forgotten what number we are on for updates. Thanks to kate for sending out information when we could not connect to the internet. The Medical team from michigan arrived today. the airport is very efficient. the landing slot was schedualed for 3:15 and the jet landed at 3:22. we backed the truck up and unloaded the supplies the team got their passports stamped and we were off the airport by 4:30. it was amazing. we met up with Tim’s friend Pastor Roro today and was able to get a truck large enough to transport all the supplies. WOW! the number of supplies was amazing. thank you to all that have helped.
Today Troy and i started a clinic at the methodist visitation house and Jane and peter worked in the afternoon. we saw over 150-200 people. we are moving back into the general medical needs of the people again. Most of the patients say that there medicines were in the house when it fell or their doctor is dead or closed. the UN showed up and delivered food to those here in the tent city. People were laughing and joyful. the kids were skipping rope tonight after dinner. it is encouraging that things are moving out of airport.
one of the best signs that I have seen is that the resilient people of Haiti are already trying to return to some normalcy. venders are back on the street, traffic is as bad as it has always been, and the people will smile. it is something to hear when they thank god for the fortunes they have been given, and we know that they have not been given much. But the one thing that god has blessed them with is grace. All have been helping each other, and the term neigborhood has been redefined in my book.
tommorrow plans are to set multiple clinic sites from Mathew 25, grace children’s Hospital, Pastor Ro RO’s compound, the Methodist Visitation House and possible the grounds of Hospice st Joe. We are working on Logistics tonight. We are repacking supplies right now (I took a break). and we will let you know how it goes over the next couple of days.
the message of love that all of you have given us is being felt everyday here. All of the people you know, all of friends you have made and all of the people that have been touched by Haiti give there prayer back to you everyday.
This place is indesciable, and the people are still in shock, but through God’s grace and your prayers they are moving forward.
